Bio
After first becoming a visitor to the Mad River Valley as a child in 1969, Perry and his siblings were eventually given possession of the family vacation home. To help offset the expenses, Perry took on the responsibility of managing the short term and seasonal rentals of the house. Perry and his wife Valerie then decided to make the move to Vermont permanently in 2015 and relocated the family. An agreement was reached with Perry’s siblings to purchase the family 'home away from home' and the next few years was spent getting a first-hand education in development, renovation and construction. First with the construction of a detached garage with an in-law apartment above, built with elderly parents in mind, then family and friends to visit, as well as rentals. Perry’s family were the first to move into that apartment for a year while he took the main house down to the studs; weatherizing, 'solarizing' and renovating just about everything to make it a year round home. All the while, Perry was doing his best to maintain the original character of the home that his parents loved so much.
As Perry was overseeing the construction on his house, the process of subdividing the property for his sister began, as well as being the shuttle driver for the two kids. When the time came to get back in the game, aka kids started driving, becoming a Realtor made perfect sense. Since being an entrepreneur from the age of 21, becoming a landlord at 25, investing in real estate, renting the vacation home since the mid-90's, 50 years of history in the Mad river Valley, and then becoming a local, Perry wanted to put his experience towards helping others buy or sell their primary or second homes by becoming a Realtor.
Prior to making the move to the Mad River Valley, Perry’s career was that of an entrepreneur. A Summer sales job during college became an 11 year run after graduating with honors with a BA in Economics from Dickinson College. That career culminated as the Division Manager for northern New England. Perry’s next venture in the mid-90's was a garage startup with his college roommate that involved touch screen concierge advertising in hotel lobbies. Perry grew that business from 3 hotels to hotels coast to coast, and after 20 years it was time for another change which brought Perry, Valerie and their two children to the Mad River Valley full time.
Outside of real estate, and his children, most of Perry’s interests involve a sense of adventure. He holds a private pilot license, UAV license, motorcycle license, scuba certification and has participated in Indy style car racing and fighter pilot ‘for a day’ programs. He has jumped out of a plane, heli-skied in Canada and looks forward to skiing new mountains in the US and abroad before too long.
Way back in the beginning of my career in sales, I had heard a quote from John C. Maxwell that stuck with me:
"If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them, then someday you can do the things you want do, when you want to do them."
My 'someday' is today, and I get to do what 'I want to do'. My choice is to help others with their real estate decisions. If you wish to move to Vermont’s Mad River Valley, or purchase a 2nd home I am happy to work with you as a Buyer's Agent; that means I represent you the buyer, not the seller, when you are my client and looking to buy a property.
If your 'someday' means you are upsizing, downsizing or leaving the Mad River Valley, and you are looking for someone who can hyper-focus on details, I would be happy to take a look at your property and introduce myself.
It would be my pleasure to put my 30+ years of sales experience into getting you the very best outcome.
